The City Manager's office has issued two sets of budget projections showing, respectively, a cumulative $25 million or $15 million budget shortfall in Charlottesville over the next five years. If the City Council majority and City Manager's budgeting philosophy prevails, the average Charlottesville home, now assessed at $232,000 and taxed at $2,562 per year, by 2010 will carry an annual tax bill of $4,185, or nearly $350 per month! At this rate, can you afford to stay in Charlottesville? To view the City Manager's projections, click here.
